REMARKS BY THE CHAIRMAN BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF NDIC AMB HASSAN ADAMU CON AT THE SEND OFF DINNER FOR THE FORMER MD CEO MR G A OGUNLEYE OFR AND THE FORMER ED OPERATIONS PROF P N UMOH FCIB HELD ON WEDNESDAY JUNE 15 2011 AT THE TRANSCORP HILTON ABUJA
PROTOCOLS
It gives me great pleasure to be a part of this memorable occasion of the send forth dinner organized in honour of the Corporation’s former Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Ganiyu A. Ogunleye, OFR, and the Executive Director (Operations), Professor Peter N. Umoh, FCIB. No doubt, these two gentlemen, that we are gathered here to celebrate tonight, had made immense contribution to Deposit Insurance System (DIS), not only in Nigeria but in Africa and the world at large.
As you are all aware the two men we are honouring today, had piloted the affairs of the Corporation for a period of ten years from October 1999 to November 2009.
While they presided over the affairs of the Corporation, these two gentlemen whom I have very great regard for, took crucial decisions, ranging from enhancement of staff welfare to operational policies to reposition the Corporation to execute its mandate. I wish to state that without their able leadership, the Corporation would not have been where it is today. As many of you here know, in the financial services industry, NDIC staff are highly reputed for their dedication to duty, adherence to professional ethics, transparency and accountability.
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, permit me to recall that during the tenure of these two men we are honouring this evening, the Corporation diligently pursued its mandate of depositor protection and promotion of safety and soundness of the nation’s banking system. During their tenure, the Corporation recorded great and landmark achievements. A lot of which have been mentioned in the Managing Director’s Speech.
Distinguished guests, it is my pleasure to observe that Mr. G. A. Ogunleye and Professor N. Umoh, are good team players. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that during our short period with them when we came on Board inAugust 2009, we worked very smoothly. We also benefited from their initial briefings and induction.
On this note, on behalf of the Board, Management and staff of the Corporation, I wish to thank the two past two senior executives for their selfless service to the Corporation and wish them success and God’s guidance in their future endeavours. The Corporation shall continue shall continue to count your support.
Thank you all and have a good evening.
